I picked up a second hand copy of &quot;<a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/My-Longest-Night-Twelve-Year-Old-Heroines/dp/1611457211/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1362267015&amp;sr=8-2" target="_blank" class="externalLink" rel="nofollow"><span style="text-decoration: underline">My Longest Night</span></a>&quot; by Genevieve Duboscq while in Dublin the other day. A book which, in itself is a masterful and unique account of a young French girl&#039;s life before, during and after the invasion, but also has specific new (to me) accounts of the fighting around La Fiere bridge.<br />

I have been contacted by Jil Launay, the owner of <b>Chateau La Fiere</b>,  asking if we can discover what part the Chateau played in the La Fiere Bridge actions of 6th - 9th June 1944 and, in addition, any more general historical information on her home.<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Been trying to ID a French family that included a couple around 30 years old with a small child about 2.  The family aided Don Rich when he was hit by MG fire on the west bank of the Canal a Flot.  The family was in their home and the home was getting hit by enemy fire.  There apparently was enemy sniper fire coming from the west, but Don seemed to think it was more than that.  Most of the enemy fire was coming from MG positions along the Canal near the marina area on the east bank.  There...<br />
