I have a very old copy of Max Hastings &#039;<a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Overlord-Battle-Normandy-Military-Classics/dp/0330513621" target="_blank" class="externalLink" rel="nofollow"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Overlord - D-Day and the Battle for Normandy 1944</span></a>&#039; published in 1984. There are several photos in it, mainly from the British sector, credit to the &#039;<b>BBC Hulton Picture Library</b>&#039;.<br />

Thanks to John Richardson who is currently working on a book relating to No. 18 Squadron, RAF during the Fall of France, I have been able to add another great resource of online images and documents. <a href="http://www.cegesoma.be/cms/index_en.php" target="_blank" class="externalLink" rel="nofollow"><span style="text-decoration: underline">CEGES-SOMA</span></a> is a Belgian site with English, French and Dutch language options.<br />

I have yet to figure out a more polished way of searching it&#039;s database of images but here is a &#039;rough and ready&#039; method which does work:<br />
