Has anyone done any research on Evans A Ittner and Richard G Levering's glider landing? The flew in serial 28 Chalk number 3. I am looking for an aerial photo of their glider in the landing zone. Lt. Ittner gives a description of the glider during and after landing:
"I landed over a double row of trees into a short field (400') and used the arrester chute. We hit the bank on the opposite side of the field and busted the nose of the glider. The jeep broke loose, rolling forward pinning Dick (co-Pilot) and myself against the nose and the bank. (landed about 0400)"
They went into LZ O. I am assuing the 0400 is the time and not part of a coordinate. He later mentions that they got the Captain out by "cutting a hole through the roof and sliding him down the wing which had bent around close to the fuselage." I have several aerials but cannot find any CG-4A gliders matching that description. I know this is a long shot but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
    King regards.
