While making a list of Foreign Military Studies that might have interesting (Cotentin related) information, I came across a FMS that intrigues me:

    --
    D-382
253d Infantry Division (Mar.-30 Jun. 1944). By Oberstleutnant E. Mauer; 20 pp. On the Cotentin Peninsula. Recollections of a field grade officer . Includes an evaluation of U.S. and German troops and tactics.

The number of the division makes no sense. 253ID was on the Eastern Front during the entire time. Instead I believe this could be a typo: 253 instead of 243. This would make this the only FMS specifically about that division.

I'll be getting a month subscription to Fold3 this December, when I will have the time to study and download more stuff, but I'd aprreciate it if someone could tell me upfront wether or not there is anything interesting in it. I'm guessing there will only be about ten pages in english and ten in German, but that only says something about quantity, not quality ;)

    Hello Niels,

Is is 243.Division, and the 5 has been overwritten throughout the text.

    I found it interesting...:)

    Cheers,

Thanks Sean. More proof you should be careful with those FMS-files.
