Hello, I am looking for any information on the following 116th Infantry Regiment soldiers who took part in the D-Day landings: Cecil G. Nuckols, Sgt, WIA 6 June 1944. Morris Shelton, Pfc, Died of Wounds 7 June 1944. It is believed that Morris Shelton was wounded on D-Day and died the next day. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have tried to download the morning reports but can't. Thank you. Sincerely, George Thompson gthompsonjr1962@gmail.com 606 355 - 0605.
Hi George, I presume you have seen this photograph of Pfc Morris Shelton's grave marker at Crab Orchard Cemetery? Do you know which company of the 116th these men were in? Thanks, Pat
Hello there, Not much, but you're correct in that Shelton (NMI= No Middle Initial) was listed as WIA for 6/6/44: As was Nuckols: These are from the unit history of 116th held in NARA (I think), these pages from a long list of casualties for 6/6/44. I don't have the ref number as the guy who leant them to me just had a bunch of stuff in folders un-labelled. Since then, the USB stick I had the photos I took on has gone funny and a lot of the pages are corrupted. As I say, not much but some confirmation if nothing else. Cheers, Sean
Yes sir I have seen it. I live in Crab Orchard and knew his sister and Cecil G. Nuckols (his brother in law). I have been trying to verify his unit on D-Day. Were they both members of Company K ? I have been told they were in the same squad also. Cecil was my neighbor growing up. One of the nicest men you could ever know. I was about 9 to 13 when we were neighbors. Thanks for all your help and I appreciate anything else you can provide and verify. George. [hr] Thank you Pat and Sean !
Hello Pat, I am trying to verify they were in Company K. I believe they were in the same squad through family members and trying to verify. Thanks, George.

Patelie, Thank you so much for this information !!! Is there a way I can get copies of these morning reports and any other information you may have on Co. K ? Cecil and Morris were best friends and Cecil wrote Morris's sister to tell her about her brother. They continued to write each other and when Cecil returned home from the war, he went to see Morris's family and meet his sister when he asked her to marry him. They were my neighbor's while growing up. Cecil died in 1981 and is buried a few feet from Morris. They were a very nice couple. Patelie thanks again for the information and could you send me copies of the originials. I would gladly pay you for them. Thank you, George.
George I don't have originals. The information I gave was found on this website http://www.29infantrydivision.org/
Thanks Patelie ! I just joined this site. Do you know who might have Morning Reports of Co. K, 116th Infantry for 6 & 7 June 1944 ? Thanks, Sincerely, George.
