Bon jour and Good Day, I will be visiting Base Normandy, staying in Bayeaux, around June 10 and 11, 2016. One purpose of the trip is to research and visit the A-20 Air Station near Lesssay, which is now the Charles Lindbergh Airdrome. The 9th Air Force, 323rd Bombardment Group was stationed there from August 26 through September 21, 1944 and flew the 9th Air Force's first combat mission from French soil from that station to Rouen. The Mayor of the Village of Lessay during the war wrote a poignant letter of tribute to the Marauder Men of the 323rd expressing gratitude for their their dedication and sacrifices. I am looking for a local historian with knowledge of the wartime airfield, who might put me in contact with other potential research sources. While in the area, I also hope to find a guide with knowledge of the locations of heavy and light German anti-aircraft batteries, the Utah Beach Museum (which houses a B-26) and the American cemetery. Any referrals and information will be appreciated. Regards, Jan
