I found this photo recently on a Facebook page and saved it to my phone and forgot about it. I downloaded it onto my pc today and set about trying to find some info about it.

Lo and behold, CG-4A 43-39893 is listed in the 82nd Airborne glider statistical tables as being part of the 434th TCG at Aldermaston. It flew one jeep and two personnel from HQ/325th GIR as part of Serial 35 Mission Galveston and landed on LZ 'W'.

From the destruction depicted in the photograph, both members of the 325th were injured and evacuated whilst the jeep was rendered unserviceable.

Now all we've got to do is identify the location!

    Neil.

Is this the same CG-4A that you can see in the background?

    Hi Neil,

It is the same Waco in the background and I know that Pat knows exactly where this is from other research.
From what I remember, I believe it is at Les Forges and it is the pond just northeast of the D70 and D974 / N13 intersection.
