    Hi All,

I have found an interesting account written by Pfc M. Prince, A Company, U.S. 2nd Rangers on the Archives.net site here. In no particular order, I intend to take snippets from the text which catch my eye and do a bit of work on them in this thread.

Apparently, and much to my surprise, this elite unit was tasked with guarding German PoW cages when the dust of the Invasion had settled. I am especially interested to track down the location of the holding field described on page 22:

'...situated a couple of miles outside of Valognes in a large open field right off the main road which connected Cherbourg to Valognes.'

There is footage of German PoWs being marched (actually running) into a 'large field' and I would wonder if its shot at the location described above.

    Does anyone know the location?

    Thanks,

    Pat

New to me, but it looks like the same field in the better known footage:

Here the PoWs are exiting to load onto trucks, but in the footage I am thinking of they are being made to run into the field.

    Regards,

    Pat
