My project researching the 24th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron now has many battlefield photographs. They are from relatives of squadron members and often have no captions. I've seen some great geolocation work on this forum and wondered if I could interest anyone in using their skills on some of the photographs I have. The squadron passed mostly from Utah Beach (replacements also came into Le Havre) through France and Belgium and into Germany, so the photographs could be from nowhere near Normandy. Background to the project can be seen here. Below are a few typical examples, just to give a flavour. Thanks, Mike
Hi Mike, I'd be glad to help if I can. Would it be possible to do high resolution copies of these three to start and also a list of the towns which the 24th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron passed through? From looking at the shop names; it's a safe bet these three are taken in Germany. Regards, Pat
