    Hi Guys,

Recent work on placing footage shot from the resupply mission has directed my attention back to the A-6 ALG at La Londe Farm. The image below has been on my wanted list for a long time now:

After locating a high resolution version of the photograph the other day, I have suddenly realised that the cockpit of the Horsa leaning to starboard is not actually the cockpit of the Horsa #22 fuselage present at all! It has been severed, quite neatly, from another Horsa out of shot - see the enlargement in the red rectangle. As far as I am aware, the only location where this type of 'surgery' is going on is at the La Londe A-6 ALG.

Always looking for additional proof for my theories, I had a look at the ground footage now in my 'confirmed A-6' folder and came across this clip from Critical Past. Note the opening scene showing a dismembered Horsa bearing the same #22 with the dot at the six o'clock position:

The final confirmation is the distinctive mark (stray paint or canvas strip?) lettered 'A'.

If I am not mistaken, the still from the footage appears to show a medic inside the fuselage section, indicating perhaps that it is now a medical store?

    Regards,

    Pat

    Hi Pat,

Lately I got in touch with a son of a glider pilot and according to the story, the glider pilot landed his Horsa in a field used some days later for a glider resupply mission.

To my best knowledge, this was at La Londe airstrip. I remember that it was subject of the forum earlier and I sure would like to see the images from back then and see it re-opened.

Will also check on the pilots story to see if it is possible to match with one of the pictured gliders.

    Hi Hans,

I'll dig out the screenshots over the weekend which we used back then and create a new 'La Londe A-6' related thread where we can put the research back up.

    Regards,

    Pat
