    Hi guys,

For those who may be able to remember the aerial photo of the C-47 near the railroad tracks that once was posted by Niels, I just added a new page to my website about that plane.

    http://www.airbornetroopcarrier.com/resupplymissionc-47loss.html

A few months ago I received the two pics with the little information on the back, claiming it to be Lt. Wilson's plane.

    Best wishes,

    Hans

    Hi Hans,

Below is a new extract from the IGN cover flown in 1947 - the same sheet that Niels used when he first found this site:

The tail is also missing here - I wonder why it was salvaged separately from the rest of the fuselage? I would assume this is impossible terrain for heavy lifting gear despite the close proximity of the railway track.

Does anyone know what the bright markings on the railway track are? I see the same markings on Hans new photos - are they physical features or markings on the photographs?

Thanks for posting the link to your new page Hans and well done on acquiring the new photographs :D

    Regards,

    Pat

FWIW, I noticed the white 'stripes' on the two original photos too, so it doesn't seem to be drawn on the photo ?
