    Hi All,

Any photographs which can be confirmed as being related to glider Mission Hackensack can be posted here.

The photograph below shows a line up of C-47s with the 'L4' marking of the 91st TCS / 439th TCG with accompanying Wacos. The gliders must be 'Hackensack' members as this glider mission is the only one which the 439th TCG performed as far as I know:

The photograph comes from the Fold3 archive at this location. Using the zoom tool thereon shows the right most Waco to be marked 'W-40' and the nearside glider might be B-11.

Have we seen footage of a Waco marked 'W-40' in flight over Utah Beach?

    Regards,

    Pat

    Hello Pat

In D-day minus one, at 13' 39" there is a sequence with a Waco wearing the A/B number W-40 but there is nothing in the sequence which show for sure that this waco was from the 439th TCG

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks - I knew we had seen this number before!

I'd bet my bottom dollar it's the same glider ;)
