    Hi Neil,

Don't think they have been moved and the loose cows would appear to rule out an ALG - that said, there is a photo of cows standing beside a parked P-47 somewhere.
    :D

It kind of reminds me of a piece of footage on one of Tyler Alberts's DVD's - hope it's not the 82nd one as I have mislaid it

    I'll do some digging...

    Regards,

    Pat

Pat, you're right. The more I study the photo I can see that the aft end of the Horsas are undamaged. A bulldozer would have made a mess of them by pushing them into the hedge.

At least the tall tree to the left is a good recognition point.

I found the footage I was looking for on Tyler's 101st DVD. I wonder is this the tree? :dodgy:

Not sure, but it's very like the same hedgerow. The starboard side wing of the right most glider should be more collapsed but perhaps it is - the clarity is not great.

    Footage location unknown.

    Hi Neil and All,

I wonder is this group part of the missing 'Keokuk' members which show on the sketch map to the NE of the D15/D913 crossroads? If your photo is the same location as the footage, then we are looking for a field with a protruding corner - possibly in this area:

    <div id="mapviewer"><iframe id="map" scrolling="no" width="500" height="400" frameborder="0" src="http://www.bing.com/maps/embed/?v=2&cp=49.392733~-1.217182&lvl=16&sty=h&form=LMLTEW&emid=a78a5965-ab6c-358d-23c1-406a7c76f2a7"></iframe><div id="LME_maplinks" style="line-height:20px;"><a id="LME_largerMap" href="http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=49.392733~-1.217182&lvl=16&sty=h&form=LMLTEW" target="_blank" style="margin:0 7px">View Larger Map</a><a id="LME_directions" href="http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=49.392733~-1.217182&lvl=16&sty=h&form=LMLTEW&rtp=%7Epos.49.392732935807835_-1.2171821557917894_Sainte-Marie-du-Mont" target="_blank" style="margin:0 7px">Driving Directions</a></div></div>

It could of course be elsewhere, but I have looked for this footage location before and could never find a good match in any of the areas with good NCAP cover. Hence I wonder about this and some other locations...west of the Les Forges crossroads...north of SME...:D

    Hi Pat
The photo of cows beside P-47s was taken at La Londe

    Hi Patrick,

Yes, the cow photo is almost certainly taken at A-6 La Londe, due to the presence of the Spitfire marked '4G', which is a member of US Naval Squadron VCS-7, part of the Air Spotting Pool (ASP) and we have already confirmed this wreck as being on this ALG in the 'No. 602 (City of Glasgow) Squadron , RAF in Normandy' thread.

I have seen the photo captioned as been taken at A-10 but I think people just assumed this was the location due to the presence of P-47 'Lethal Liz II' (42-25904) of the 81st FS/50th FG.

Back to Neil's photo. I am having doubts about the linkage to the Combat Reels footage today. That far right starboard wing should be showing all it's invasion stripes in the footage. Also where is the upside-down Horsa wreck? The object to the right of the tree in the still from the footage also seems to be a Horsa wing and not a fuselage

Strange the two scenes are so similar but not meshing as well as I would have hoped :dodgy:

    Regards,

    Pat

    Another thought...

Perhaps its the tail section which is preventing us being able to see all the invasion stripes :exclamation:

    Anyone any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Pat
