Hi All, François has sent me a link to what looks like a very useful phone app: Spot On Locations - Normandy App Please note that through Whitebeam Battlefield Research Forum you may be able to link to this and other websites which are not under the control of Whitebeam Battlefield Research Forum, I wish to make clear that I have no jurisdiction over the nature, content and availability of those sites. Yes, I asked them. They are working on an Android AND on an iPad format. I can see it now on my iPad, but on iPhone format, i.e. very SMALL ! It would be great to have it on iPad size ! I was thinking we could maybe make 'our own', seeing what Pat is doing with Google maps now
Hi Guys, I need to get to grips 'under the bonnet' with Google Maps before moving on to phone apps but if anyone else has the knowledge base at present, please feel free to proceed. All I would ask is that no locations discussed in the closed 'Green Room' area of the Forum are made public. My limited understanding is that these apps can be created with relative ease. I also understand that files can be created with driving directions for car satellite navigation units - does anyone know anything about this process? Google Maps has a 'Driving Directions' feature which we could add to the new Map on the Forum - see this example. Regards, Pat
Hi Pat Yes of course. On the same page http://www.6juin1944.com/espace/aerial/gps.php you can download a zip with three files: .bmp, .ov2, .csv the bmp is an icon used for the POI, ov2 is a file used by tomtom and csv by garmin You have just to add the .bmp and .ov2 in your tomtom navigator and you will have new POIs added, towards which you will be able to drive. it works perfectly on my galaxy SII
