Hello, I guess this is one that Niels might find interesting, or able to help out. Attached is a photo of a Tiger 1. I think it must have been taken in the wide Arras area, France. Probably in the sector Amiens-Cambrai-Rijsel and the coast area. Hope there is more information about this knocked out tank. Regards, Hans www.airbornetroopcarrier.com
You're right, I do find this one interesting. Pretty sure this is tank '304' of schwere SS Pz.Abt.101. Photo is flipped BTW. 304 means it is the tank of the company commander. I'll ask one of the experts for the exact location. For now: http://tiif.de/thread.php?threadid=35&sid=2429964509b9b3bff8cc51be70d25816
Hello there, There are a couple of photos of 304 in Don Graves excellent history of the South Alberta Regiment I think the location was established thanks to the CWGC cemetery nearby. I'll scan them tomorrow. Cheers, Sean
Niels and Sean, Thanks for the replies. I had a strange view on that 4 of the number, but believe the 3 was a 2 and that it was in the correct position. Look forward to more news about this tank...(and will follow the link to see where that ends). Hans www.airbornetroopcarrier.com
Hello there, It was only one picture in the end; it's also on the TIIF page Niels posted a link to. Cheers, Sean
Sean, Thank for your input. I did some searching and found the location. I is near the WW1 battlefield Vimy Ridge. Other photos from the collection show the Canadian memrial. So that is solved. Wonder what happened to the tank and crew. Hans www.airbornetroopcarrier.com
