La Fiere bridge

    I'm looking for some before and after battlefield pics of the lafiere bridge battlefield and causeway. Can anyone help. Thx. Herb

    Hi Herb,

    Welcome to the Forum.

    The most common after action footage of the bridge is seen in this PhotosNormandie film (f000255). The scene commences at time mark 3:47.

    Goggling the term 'La Fiere" will bring up several dozen stills and some more footage. There are a few examples of old postcards from around the turn of the twentieth century as well.

    Hi Herb,

    Some of the good photos I have seen are in two books...
    "No Better Place to Die" by Robert Murphy has many photos of the buildings at La Fiere, but they are kind of small.
    Another book "Sainte-mere-Eglise, photographs of D-Day" by Michel De Trez has some larger rarely seen photos of the paratroops sitting inside sheltered areas, and of General Gavin reviewing a map along a wall of a building at La Fiere.

    Is there anything specific in photos you are looking for relating to La Fiere?
