I'm a British writer, living in the Val de Saire, Normandy. I came across the forum while researching the US squadron who were first into my town on June 21 1944. A fascinating thread came up in answer to my googling of the VII Corps initial HQ on French soil and I realised that there's a lot of expertise around here that I'd like to tap into for my own research.
I'm in the early phase of amassing detail on the 4th Cavalry Group's 24th Cavalry Reconnaissance...

I'm just jumping into a project that I've been wanting to do now for a long time-trying to pin down the general positions of the various German anti-aircraft weapons on the night of June 5/6. I realize that this is a somewhat ridiculous proposition given the state of the German records and I don't imagine that it'll be quite quick to do either. I think right now I'd aspire to produce a record of my findings in some form thought I'm not sure of which.
