I have opened this thread to facilitate a study of No. 602 (City of Glasgow) Squadron , RAF and its participation in the invasion of Normandy. Regular readers may recall that we found one of this squadron&#039;s Spitfires on the A-6 La Londe ALG a while back.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[I am coming across direction to the fighter bombers in the weeks leading up to June 6th not to attack any Panzer columns when out on armed recces. Does anyone happen to know why this was? I suspect intelligence was tracking them to see where they were going, overall, though, a bit of an odd instruction if you ask me. <br />

I have found some interesting footage on the British Pathe site which shows a RAF typhoon on an ALG in Normandy.
